Nick Squires at the Telegraph has compiled a list of the top-five most expensive paintings. As you can imagine, Picasso dominates the list. The only surprise is the absence of Warhol who’s consistently second in yearly sales figures:

• 1. No 5, 1948, by Jackson Pollock – $140 million
• 2. Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer by Gustav Klimt – $135 million
• 3. Nu au Plateau de Sculpteur by Pablo Picasso – $106.5 million
• 4. Garçon à la Pipe by Pablo Picasso – $104 million
• 5. Dora Maar with Cat by Pablo Picasso – $95 million
